Exciting Group 1 Drag Racing

2022 Season Opener

Aero Racing presented at the Perth Motorplex Nitro Max season opener this weekend with poor weather forecast for the day, but track staff and competitors determined to press on.

For the most part the rain was just intermittent drizzle, but very cold and windy making the track difficult.

Our first qualifier was interrupted at startup with an inability to get any gears. A look back in the pits found the Quickdrive air controller faulty, with no spares. Some quick bush technology by crew member Rob got us going though, with a temporary fix.

Compulsory qualifier at 6pm saw the altered shake badly out of the hole, and very skatey down the track.

Some tune up changes were made, and round 1 was much better, but still required a couple of pedals to get down the track, and we picked up the win in a solo.

The run was the better of all Top Comp runners though, and got us an A Final berth.

We made minor tune up changes and headed out for the final. Nice strong burnout in the Hemi. But excessive oil coming out of the puke tank forced a shutdown. We watched as Russell Ladbrook in another altered blew the tyres off on the hit.

Overall the team are happy with the result as runner up. Some new front aero proved successful with the car easier to steer and control. Hemi engine is faultless and the crew are getting their heads around the combo.
